Author What kind of proof of certification MS provides?

Hi everyone,

I have a simple question: once a person passes all 4 exams for MCDBA,
what kind of document does Microsoft provide? Is it paper certificate
or something else? (I mean, how can I prove later, that I am MCDBA)?

Oh, one more. Does the certification expire? If in 5 years from now
nobody will know what SQL2000 is, will the certification, obtained for
SQL2000, still be valid?

Thans a lot for your help.

Once you pass your first test and get your MCP you will be issued an MCP
number. Along with a paper certificate you can access the MCP secured area
and print official transcripts.
The transcript will show all the tests you've ever passed and all
nonexpired certifications attained. Generally certifications don't really
expire, tests do. So when a test expires say the Win NT 3.5 TCP/IP exam.
When a test expires this sometimes negates a certification. So to answer
your question Microsoft says they will support a test as long as a
significant number of companies are still using that version. What is
significant? MS determines that and doesn't release that information.
History shows that MS supports it certifications for about two versions
forward. So with Yuckon coming out in 2003 expect SQL 7.0 to fall off the
supported test list about mid to late 2003. SQL 2000 will probably be
supported into 2005. Of course other tests that some MCDBAs may be relying
on to fulfill their requirements may expire earlier.

After you pass all four exams you will recieve a "package" from Microsoft.
It includes your MCDBA certification (suitable for framing), your Microsoft
Certified Professional - Database Administrator Pin to where on your lapel,
and your "credit card" with holographig logo you can pull out and flash to
impress as needed.

-RJ

P.S. Not really a credit card but Microsoft must have something planned for
it. You use your MCP number to access the secured web site.
