Hi all,

I am currently preparing for 70-229 Designing and Implementing Databases
with Microsoft SQL ServerT 2000 Enterprise Edition, as an elective for MCAD.

Is any of you preparing for the same exam or has done so in the past? If yes
I would love to exchange ideas with you.

Cheers,
Jignesh.

Jignesh,

After using SQL server on and off for a few years I relied on
the "MCDBA SQL Server 2000 Database Design Study Guide"
from McGraw-Hill. This has a CertTrainer CD including an
exam simulator.
The only problem is the questions in the book and on the CD
are about 1/3rd of the length of the real ones, and are much easier.
I was half way through the exam time, before I realised I'd only
answered 1/4 of the questions, and didn't come close to finishing.
It takes most of the exam time simply to read the questions, let alone
re-read or try something on paper.

Given Transcender's confidence in offering a money back guarantee,
they are what I'd go for, but if you are looking for an easy elective.
This is not it.

Hi

You need to concentrate on the following areas.

1) Knowledge in SQL Profiler
2) XML usage in select ( Prepare statemen , Open, With etc )
3) Different database permissions and permission flow. You need to identify
where the permission flow has broken.
4) You need some idea about Normalisation
5) Idea about Index tuning wizard.
6) Queries ( This part is really time consuming and very difficult)
7) You should have idea about database design. You may be asked to find the
redundancy in a structure.
8) Concentrate on Indexes - clustered, non clustered etc

Hope this helps
