I'm sure the has been asked alot but I'm new and came here for some needed help. I want to get A+ cert. but not sure about a few things. please answer these for me:

1. Do I need to go through a group like comptia to get my cert or can I get it on my own?

2. What should I read to study for it?

3. What is the avg cost now a-days?

1. There are no prerequisites in order to sit for the test, so no, you DO NOT have to "go through" any Comptia sponsered or recommended training.
2. The answer to this question varies by person, experience and skill level. After reading the exam objectives, find study materials that will cover what you're weak on or whatever may have become rusty.
3. Comptia's A+ Cert is split into two tests: Core Hardware and OS. The cost for each is approx. $150.00 US, but I would recommend that you research an exam voucher.
