I've managed to make windows PE bootable cd for XP/2000 which works fine
with lots of untilities very useful for troubleshooting and so fourth . I
just wondered if it was possible to make anything similar for 9X ?

I do something similar with a bootable DOS CD. Since Win98 drives work fine
with DOS tools I haven't found any reason to use a GUI. F-Protect is a
decent antivirus for DOS and the DOS version is a free download. I put it
on a bootable CD with a bunch of other utilities like AIDA and AIDA32 and
the 98 drivers for my thumb drives in case I need to move files from another
computer to the customer's machine.
Of course, I'm pretty familiar with DOS having started with it so there
isn't any real disadvantage for me having to learn commands and navigation.
