| Anyone have good/bad experiences with Aconis True Image? Should I go with
Ghost instead? I don't care for the symantec's activation procedure. It's
bad enough I have to do it for MS.
Thanks

I have nothing but great things to say about TrueImage. It's
reasonably priced, but head and shoulders above Ghost. The parts that
I like are:
- Linux filesystem support (EXT2/3, ReiserFS)
- Scheduled backups
- Incremental backups
- No need to reboot Windows systems to back up
- Back up over SMB / "Network Neighborhood"
I don't believe that Ghost has any of those features.
The emergency recovery CD is linux based, and has built-in drivers for
just about everything. (Unlike Ghost's DOS-based disk where you need
to select your specific NIC or USB(2)/Firewire drivers). And although
the feature isn't built-in to the software, I've figured out how to
create a self-contained bootable recovery DVD that contains both the
TrueImage software and the image files.

| Best imaging program that I have used.... much better than Drive Image or
Ghost when you are backing up to an external drive..

| thanks all for the input. It's sometimes hard to find uncompromised
critiques of software, especially if they're not sold at Newegg, et.al. I
am going to go for the Acronis package for it's good review and great price
point.
