I recently had to uninstall Windows XP from a dual boot configuration with
windows 2000.
Machine now boots and works fine on win 2k however the original black and
white boot screen
(the one with the white progress bar along the bottom) has been replaced
with one without any text on it at all. Thats is the messages are missing,
including the one about `for boot options press f8 `
Is the file that displays this message NTLDR and are the messages editable
in any way ?
I would just like to know for future refence.

The file that dosplays the boot options is boot.ini iirc, and it is
editable, as far as changing the time you have to pick between OS's.

The boot.ini file reads as follows:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0
)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partiti
on(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000
Professional" /fastdetect

So the missing messages that say `loading windows 2000 professional and `for
boot options press f8` should be where exactly ?

Toni~ My bad I misread your initial posting.

I'll have to do some research myself to see how to replace that screen.
