| What's the best brain dump for the A+ exam? Looking for something that has
the questions and detailed answers that have been reviewed and confirmed
correct. I'm not looking for sites where people just upload the questions
and give what they think is the correct answer.
thx

I'm not the moral advocate of exam taking practices myself, but you do
realize that someday you will have to face the "technical interview". No
amount of dumping will get you past that.

I knew I would get flamed for this, but I do appreciate your approach to
this thread. Actually, there is no technical interview that I will face.
I've got a job I've been doing for 10 years now and it's recommended we have
this piece of paper to stick on the wall. That's all it is.

come on guys - each to his own - I have been studying, working with PC's for

If you've been doing the job for 10 years then you don't need a brain dump.
Get yourself Mike Meyer's passport to A+ or one of the PrepLogic Exam Cram
books. They both offer a solid review of the subject matter without all the
entry level stuff and they include practice test software. I can usually
read one of these cover to cover in two or three evenings.

| Show me an A+ student who says he/she hasn't looked at *any* braindumps, or
similar, and I'll show you a liar.....or a fool.
Either you're paying for this out of your own pocket or your employer is
paying for it - either way, you don't want to fail.
Some of the questions I had on my exam on Friday were on "legitimate"
practice exams, like the ones on the CD that comes with Mike Myers book.
Does this mean buying Mikes book is cheating too?
Does anybody *really* believe that there are people passing these exams
without studying? Just looking at braindumps? No way.
Do the people who are so quick to accuse others of cheating skip NG posts
that talk about what's on the exam? I doubt it.

Well... I wouldn't recommend this method for someone that doesn't know their
XXX from a hole in the ground, but it worked pretty good for me. He said he
had been working in the field for more than ten years and I would hope he
has a fair understanding of computers to start with. As for me, I'm a long
time electronics hobbyist/enthusiast and have more than 20 years experience
working with computers. My first PC used a Z-80 processor and the CP/M OS.
A quick brush up was plenty to get me through the A+ exams. I put in a lot
more time studying for Network+ and used a couple of books in the process.

Pretty stupid calling people you know nothing about liars and/or
fools.
For the record I have an A+ and didn't look at any brain dumps, I
studied and learned the material and passed on the first try.

You're right, I was a bit harsh, but I stand by my point. The thing that
made me respond so harshly was seeing others being even harsher :
quote/ "Shit, what a freaking loser!" /quote
I think our fundamental argument is the same - I *totally* agree that
cheating sucks, but I'm not really bothered if people cheat -karma will get
them in the end, when they end up looking foolish in front of their new
boss/colleagues.
What I'm saying is that if someone wants to look at a braindump, that
doesn't necessarily mean they're a cheat. Often it means they're inquisitive
individuals who know that they want to give themselves the best possible
chance to pass their exams.
I used several free online resources which are considered "ok" which are
nothing more than braindumps presented differently. And what's Transcender
if it's not "Braindump In A Can"?
Like I said in another post, braindumps are a good resource to see what sort
of questions you MIGHT get. But don't rely on the answers any more than you
would rely on any other dodgy website. Take them for what they are, nothing
more, nothing less.

| Once again, I agree with Jonathan Miles. Personally, I would never start off
with a brain dump. But after the book and my first dump (TRANSCENDER), I use
other resources. I never study a question and I never study answers. I
suggest using a braindump to see what concepts you don't understand. Its all
about the material behind the questions. Unfortunately no book ever covers
all the topics needed for an exam. Brain dumps such as Transcender can let
you know whats more likely to be on the test.

You have to question the morality of someone who agrees not to
disclose the questions doing a brain dump straight after the test.

| Hi
The best 'brain dump' source of what could appear in the exam that I found
was the Comptia A+ objectives (at www.comptia.com). The night before the
exam I checked over the multi-page listing and ticked off each one only if I
was absolutely happy with my study on each subject. If not, then I had
seriously missed important information, which meant I had more reading to
do....
Cheers

| I think you should not look for advice from people that will judge you
at everything you do. The truth is that your work proves your worth.
People cheat all the time, I don't lie and cheat on interviews or work
and I am not working. :/ Now I am going to be flamed for one thing or
another but the fact is liars and cheaters do well. I have seen CEOs
do it. Spineless weasels and cowards do well it is almost always the
fact.

No; you don't get it. Not to be mean about it but their bad karma is
catching up with me. Want to here a real life story?
I have a network admin friend I met on a car forum who works in Cali.
When I talked to him about my MCSA (this can apply to any cert) he said
this:
Him: Dan, you're pretty smart but as far as any *good* employer knows
that paper means dick.
Me: What do you mean? I worked my XXX off. I passed the tests.
Him: But they don't know that. Take for example one of the junior
admins I had. We sent him off to complete a task of a workstation that
couldn't get online. He is there for TWO hours and I finally go check
on him personally. Do you know what he had to say?
Me: Blue screen of death!
Him: Ha, but no. He figured that the CPU was going bad and might be
overheating. I check ipconfig and see that it's a 169.254...
Me: Oh; DHCP server wasn't assigned.
Him: Yea; you're a legit MCSA and know that but he is was a certified
MCSE who didn't. Do you follow?
Me: I'm going to go crawl in a corner and die.
I know I'm an extremely bright person and if I really had the gumption
I'd find a dump of the CCNA, a Security+, and Linux then just call it a
day.
Karma isn't catching up with anything since the mentioned junior admin
makes $55k (which isnt bad for northern Cali) in salary and my last two
jobs were washing dishes and janitorial work at $6 an hour.
You follow?
