Win ME Shutdown problem

| Thought I would ask you all since there are some knowledgeable people on
here. I have a system running Windows ME, when we shut it down, it goes
to the Windows is shutting down screen and then stops there. It is an
AYX machine so it is suppose to shut (I get mixed up, the ATX's are
suppose to shut down automatically correct?) Anyhow, it is the newer
machine that turns off automatically when shut down. Anyhow, anyone have
any idea what to look at? I have not run into this before. I would
rather not reinstall the OS. All help is appreciated
Thanks,
Gary

You could try downloading all the Windows updates. There is one that's
supposed to address the all too common shutdown problem. It's doubtful
that it'll fix it though. Your best bet is to just live with it - it's
no big deal. One thing you may want to check though. Look in device
manager for the power management controller and make sure it doesn't
have an exclamation point. If it does, try reloading the chipset drivers
that came with the motherboard. It may help. Good luck.
