I don't agree that the money aspect is necessarily GONE, it just shouldn't
be the main criteria for wanting to work in IT. If you are motivated you can
find a good job and if you are even more motivated, you may be able to do
work on the side (which can often pay more than salaried jobs in this
field).

The prospect of a possible secure job with a (hopefully) comftorble (not
filthy rich) earnings potential is one of the things that drew me to this
field in the first place, but it was the desire to help other people and the
drive to succeed, as well as the enjoyment I get out of being among the
first to use a new technology or to help a business or home user discover
new things they can do with their PC"s, is what makes me stay.
