Hi, can you guys enlighten me on the products, and methods you use when
calling on someone to carry out a virus scan. Presumably most of you carry
out initial tests in a DOS mode. Any website info would be fantastic.
Thanks for all your help in advance.

I have a Norton AntiVirus 2003 disk in my kit that I use, however I prefer
to sell my clients a new install and subscription. For those elderly
clients on tight budgets I recommend AntiVir http://www.free-av.com/ or AVG
Gold http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php . However there are many
on-line scanners you can use such as
http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/scan.asp http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

I use F-Prot which is a free DOS scanner www.f-prot.com
When I need to scan a Windows 2000 or XP computer I use NTFSDOS to mount the
HD and scan without trying to clean anything since NTFSDOS only reads and
will not write or change an NTFS volume.
