windows splash screen

| Hi,
How do I reinstate the windows splash screen, either my own or windows, that
appears during bootup.
msdos.sys is already set to logo=1 but I dont get anything.
Is there supposed to be a file called logo.* or something? .bmp?

You need a 256 color .bmp file that's sized at 320 by 400. Once you've
got that, rename it logo.sys and put it in C:\. You may have to play
around with the aspect ratio to get it to not look tall and thin. I
think I remember that if you start the file at 534 by 400 then resize it
to 320 by 400 it'll look normal. Have fun.

| This is how your MSDOS.SYS file should look:
[Paths]
WinDir=c:\windows
WinBootDir=c:\windows
HostWinBootDrv=c
[Options]
BootMulti=1
BootGUI=1 <---- This is what controls whether you get a splash screen or
not
DoubleBuffer=1
There's actually 3 logo files, There's Logo.sys which is your standard
splash screen
and that should be located on the root of the C drive (C:\). Then there are
2 other
logo files: Logos.sys and Logow.sys, Logos comes up when it is save to turn
off
your computer (if you don't have the SMART switch enabled in the BIOS) and
logow is the screen that comes up when the system is in the process of
shutting down.
After the [Options] section you should see a bunch of characters, leave
those alone,
those are there to make the MSDOS.SYS file at least 1024 bytes (1 kilobyte)

Um nope, BootGUI is pretty self explanatory, it controls whether or not the
comp Boots to the Windows GUI (Graphical User Interface) or a command prompt
only, any bearing on the splash screen is incidental.
The entry for controlling whether a splash screen is loaded or not is
Logo= (0 for not loading and 1 to load the splash, which the OP indicates
she has already checked)
Note that most times this entry is used to disable the splash and isn't
normally neccesary in Win98

Sorry I don't the original post to reply, but did you remove the read-only
attribute before changing it? And you do need to make sure the files are
available in win95, win98 can load them from a .dll, but will use them if
present. (they are hidden files, so make sure you have your folder options
set to 'show all files' before searchng). If your interested in making
