| Thanks to all who replied &/or wrote back with sugestions.
Just to update you all, being the good technician that I am, I tried some
experimentation on a small network that I'm building in the Instructor's Room
in the school where I teach.
My old laptop is Win98. The desktop is W2K. My new laptop is WinXP (yes, it
*is* NTFS).
Anyway, I set up old W98 laptop & mapped to "My Documents" on desktop (W2K).
I was able to open, modify, print, etc. files from both machines. Same with
new laptop (XP).
However, when I tried to copy a file from XP machine to 98 machine, I received
a "cannot copy files due to permissions" error. Now I gotta fart around with
network permissions on W2K & XP machines so I can copy files back & forth.
Oh, well, as I tell my students, "It's a learning experience." :-)
At least break week is coming up in a couple of weeks. I'll have some slack
time & I'll be able to play.
