| Check that your jumpers are correct if that doesn't work
I would try each drive seperatly and see if they are detected. Remember to
change your master slave jumpers.

| Quick question,
what it the product name on your cdrw drive,
some cdrw drives will not work with anything on the same cable with
them except for a hard drive, or they must be on the cable alone.....

| Thanks for that. Would you believe theres no brand name!! All there is
is, CDRW84321A. I have also downloaded the latest VIA chipset drivers,
but still got same prob. I'm gonna put the CDRW as a slave to the HDD
and see what happens, will post result. Kev

| Hi all, put CDRW as master on ide 2. put DVD drive as slave to HDD on
ide 1. FANTASTIC, "Houston, we dont have a problem" Mind you, just
wondering why it was doing that. Any ideas on possible causes are
welcome. Thanks, Kev

| My cd drive and cdrw don't like one another either. I have to have one on
one ide cable and the other on a different one.

| It is a problem with most cdrw drives when you put another removable
media drive on the same cable, the computer suddenly cannot see either
drive, i do not know why it happens, it just does, but usualy only
with a cdrw, .................this happened to me with a philips
2412a and a zip 100 drive on the same cable, worked great when i
seperated them, not at all together.btw, it sounds like you have a
philips cdrw from the numbers you quoted, try their site to see
http://www.philips.com
