| I have one desktop PC running WXP and a laptop (WXP as well). Both have NICs. I need to connect them and the cable I got is Belkin Pro Series Cat5e Patch Cable. It seems I cannot use this cable to connect two PCs. Is it true that I need crossover cable or there is a way to use the cable that I have wihtout buying a hub? If I need to buy a crossover cable where can I get it the cheapest? Thank you.... | |

Cut off one end and make a crossover cable. It will require an RJ45 end and
crimpers, but you could probably borrow the crimpers from somewhere. Or
take the cable to a computer store and have some dude do it for you...

| You need a crossover cable; a normal cable won't work. A crossover
cable is just a normal cable with the wires at one end going to
different pins. It shouldn't cost any more than a normal cable of the
same length. Try www.computergate.com, or a computer show.
