1st: Thanks Mike Myers for great books.

2nd: I passed both the A+ tests on one day, i've been working with computers
for years and finaly went through the steps of getting the A+, using only
experience and Mike Myers A+ All in one book.
I am 75% of the way through the Mike Myers Network+ All in one, book. Will
be taking that test in a week or 2 when i get the funds for the voucher. I
am interested in persuing my MCSE and then on to MSDBA.

I was wondering if Mike Myers had a recomendation for what books to use to
continue my education through the MCSE. I have picked up several and they
all seem pretty much the same but was wondering if he (or anybody) had any
preferences and what they thought of them.

Thank you

Philip

For the MS exams you need either Sybex or MS Press books

And my better half distinguished them as such....

The Sybex books are easier to read, and a little more relaxed.

The MS Press books could put an insomniac to sleep, but are more in depth
about the product.

I would almost recommend both. Start with the Sybex to get a grounding, and
then to the MS Press for in depth understanding.

Philip-

Hi Philip. I'm unaware of any decent DETAILED MCSE books out there right
now. My passport series books are great "cram" books but they don;t teach
much concept.

Sigh, Go with M$soft I guess.

Mike

IMHO the passport series are only acceptable if you have a reasonable base
knowledge - I would refer to them as something you would use to brush up
prior to an exam. The Syngress books are a damn joke (I know as I bought
the whole damn series and ended up buying others). The Microsoft books are
pretty good, but do tend to look at a network as something that MS invented
and really do not take the real world into play. I have not used the Sybex
books for MCP exams, but know that they have very good wraps and going by
the ones I have used I should think that they would do the job admirably.
