Deskjet 720C problem

| Hi All,
Got an interesting problem with a HP720C deskjet. The setup is two computers
(both running W98) and workgroup networked. Originally computer A had the
720C attached and shared with computer B. Recently the business moved to new
premises and it was decided to connect the 720C to computer B and purchase a
new Brother laser printer and connect it to computer A (both printers are
shared). Computer B works fine with the 720C, but when you try to print to
it from computer A it reports a connection problem and cancells the print
job. I think that computer A still thinks that the 720C is connected to
LPT1, connects with the laser, and reports an error. I've tried uninstalling
the 720c from computer A, but it gets about halfway through the uninstall
and comes up with the"this program has caused an error.." error message and
aborts.
I've tried reinstalling the driver on computer B (getting desperate), etc.
but with no change. Both printers print to their respective printers without
any problems and computer B can print to A's laser.
Anybody got any ideas about how to fix this problem? All suggestions (that
are physically possible) would be greatfully accepted.
Regards
Grant

| Could it be a IRQ conflict? Try going into CMOS set up and confure it to LPT2 if possable. I don't know if this will work I have never had to try it myself.
Good luck | |

| On computer A:, Control Panel / Printers, right click on the 720C, under
the Sharing tab, click "not shared", and under the "Ports" tab, make
sure that it's "connected" to the printer on Computer B, which may
require adding a new port. That's where the connection to LPT1 (which
you want to break) is made, and where the connection to the new network
printer port will have to be made.
