Need some help please. I have a dvd.
|
|
|
| I was given a DVD drive today and it works with music and data, it's a LG
DVD ROM. Model # DRD 8080b, but I can't find a site that will let me play
DVD movies. I need some kind of software, but don't know where to find it.
LG Electronics Inc. S/N N003ZG01148 all the info I got from the drive I have
here.
This is the site I went to first and many others with no luck.
http://www.creativepro.com/company/home/3346.html BTW I'm running Win2000.
Thank you in advance.

| You need a software program such as Windvd or Powerdvd.
Depending on your video card, you may also have a dvd player that comes on
the CD with your video card's drivers. ATI Radeons come with their own DVD
player software, and it's free.

| Thanks I never thought of that, this is my first DVD. And it just so happens
that my video card is an ATI Radeon. I hope this works.

I just watched my first movie on the PC and what a difference. I will never
watch a DVD movie on TV again. The picture is so clear and the sound is
perfect. If this keeps up TV as we know it will be history.

| The only hang up is that TV's are cheaper then monitors! You can get a
26inch TV for about $300-350, but price a 26inch monitor! It sure isn't
$350!!

| Oh BS. You apparently have never had a decent TV. You also state 'this is my
first DVD'. The difference has nlothing to do with TV vs PC.

| FYI, I have a Toshiba 32 inch TV and a Toshiba DVD, but this is my first DVD
for the computer. And I like it better, and thanks for asking.

Well, the monitor is definitely capable of much better resolution than
any TV that I am aware of, allowing closer viewing without visible
distortion (IF the DVD's resolution in fact exceeds that of the TV in
question), and the sound from a computer would usually be better than
the sound from a TV, but for comfortable viewing from a distance, and
the best audio possible, a stereo and a large screen TV would still be
better...my opinion. A 36" progressive scan TV, 10+ feet away, on a
soft sofa, beverage in hand and snacks at the ready... :-)
