I have a old AT motherboard, AST-No longer made. It has a microphone
input, yet, it doesn't have sound. Do I need a Driver? I am on windows
98.
Does it need a preamp?

Thanks

You probably don't have the microphone turned on (e.g. you have it
muted) in the mixer. Open both the fully playback mixer and the
separate record mixer (options/properties/recording).
