Hi All,

I am Microsoft certified and now planning to go for a+ exams. Will it
be beneficial for me to do so? Or I should go for some other exam?
Also, if you think I am on the right track, please suggest me the
books, practice tests etc that can help me on this. I will be really
thankful.

Regards,
Samantha

To be honest i can`t understand why anyone who is Microsoft certified would
go for A+, i think it is usually the other way round. If you don`t have any
experience or knowledge of computer hardware then yes A+ would be a good way
to go as i do know one or two people who have a few MCP's but no knowledge
of hardware and systems and are finding it hard to get work (but the
industry is on it`d knees in the UK).

I studied with Mike Meyers A+ certification exam guide 4th edition and this
proved to be very valuable indeed.
Good luck

Depends on what you want to do when you grow up

I like working on the hardware level, so I did the A+. I like networks, so
I did Net+, but my work required MCSE, so I did that. I actually plan on
getting off my butt this summer and getting the Cisco certs. After that,
who knows.

So to answer your questions, if you want to work on computers on a hardware
level, get your A+, if not, don't worry about it.

tigger,
your kidding right? The Microsoft exams only prepare you to work with
Microsoft products, where the A+ will hopefully teach you something about
the basics of computer troubleshooting. However, if you like paying for
outside people to troubleshoot your systems you can skip the A+.

Samantha,
I will strongly recomend www.freecomptia.com the practice tests on their
site is the best, and also when you buy the book be sure it contains
practice questions on the cd.
Good luck

The MS certification in question has not been specified, and there is
little or no overlap between A+ Core and any MS certification that I
am aware of. Just because a person has the MCSE does not mean that
that person can put a PC together...some professional engineers
wouldn't be able to do it without following instructions, at least at
first. :-)

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the responses. I saw uCertify's online test for a+ it
seemed great. I am looking for other practice tests too. I will let
you all know about it as soon as I decide something.

Samantha

Hi Samantha!!!

I have cleared both A+ exams. And I would recommend three resources for this:

www.ucertify.com
www.ucertify.com
www.ucertify.com

Don't waist time and go for it. I guarantee you will pass at one go.

Bye for now and post your review after getting cleared your exam.
