Author determining motherboard

I'm trying to find out what motherboard I have. I have a Compaq Presario
5140...several years old. I've been looking on the Compaq website, but I
haven't been able to find any information on the motherboard. Does anyone
know how I can get the motherboard information? I'm looking to install the
lastest BIOS...flash them. Where can I go to get that information as well?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had the same issue with my old compaq computer, I even tried to call
Compaq, and that was a waste of time.. In any case you can find what
your looking for here:
http://www29.compaq.com/falco/sp_li...ps&fam=Presario

Just enter your information, and you should find the bios updates
towards the bottom of the screen.

Hope that helps.

I hope you're updating the BIOS for a good reason. I've had nothing but
trouble with Compaq's "Rompaq" updates. And it's doubtful that they'll
even have an update for your system. It's only when there are major
problems with a system line that Compaq does any updating at all. Those
bastards don't want you to update or upgrade anything. They want you to
buy a new system from them. Have fun but next time look around and find
an industry standard 'no-name' system. Then you won't have to rely on
Compaq to pass along updates for your hardware.
