Author P4 3.06, What/When will Intel Release there Next Chip?????

I am looking into building a P4 3.06 machine in the next 2-4

months.....and i am curious as to when Intel will release there next

chip.......I keep hearing to always buy the second fastest chip on the

market (better prices)....so i am curious as to how soon we could see

another P4 released.....It looks like Intel releases a new chip every

2-4 months.....and the 3.06 came out around Nov/Dec.....so should we

be looking at a 3.2/3.3 comming out soon???? Checked out

tomshardware/anandtech/sharkeyextreme.com......and dont see anything

planned

Thanks

Rob

PS.....Anyone know of a good Motherboard that will support a P4 3.06

and a Radeon 9700 pro 8xAGP.....with no onboard sound/nic/video????

I would be interested to know when AMD will come out with a processor to
match (orbeat) the 533 FSB P4. Their for awhile they were giving Intel a
run for their money but they seem to have dropped the ball.

AMD is going to be hard pressed to do than with the 800 Mhz FSB from Intel
due shortly. Its over for AMD.

Have a look under 'workstation' and 'desktop':

nah, i feel the athlon64 will be a hit. especially if a athlon64 xp version
comes out at same time. don't tell me we don't need a 64bit workstation
processor. i guess we also didn't need a 32bit processor when everyone was
content using dos. backward compatability IMHO will be the major key in
their success.. i have faith. they still have headroom with bartons and with
improving .13 micron, hopefully they could get 400fsb.

James,
Hopefully they can get to 400FSB????? Do you read what you write? If Intel
is going to be running at DOUBLE (800Mhz FSB) there FSB don't you think this
is going to be a issue in terms of performance and a definite advantage for
Intel?

so what?? athlons running at 266 and 333 keeps up with p4 running at
400/533. judging from this a 400 athlon could keep up with 666 p4 but since
they leapfroped that, yeah 800 p4 will be faster, and a 400 athlon isn't a
sure thing yet. p4 will run double at least but what are you implying?
double the performance? cmon. p4 will keep the performance crown but i have
faith that athlon64 will take it from them.
