I want to close all programs before defragramenting (So It doesn't take to
the year 2999). With The new style of Close program most programs are
considered prosses which I was told never to close any of them unless I knew
exactly what I was closing. Can I Go in and close everything but systray and
explorer like on windows 95. Should I just close everything I could See
beside going in Close program?

Help appretiated

This may be a little too much, but it will show the effectiveness of
Msconfig.

Restart in Safe Mode and defrag from there, also disable Virtual Memory and
Hibernate and re-enable them after defrag.

The XP defragger is quite quick
Which defragger are you using?
XP defragger does not have the problems with open files than 98 had

Hee hee,
Your welcome, there are some real experts that hang here. I got lucky and
happened along with a fix.
Take care.

Don't know how fast. I'm used to the one in win 95 which restarts every 2
secconds If stuff is running.(or it seemed to) Maybe I should just turn the
virus scan off and try
