| Just wanted to say a quick hello. I just received my A+ certification
and I'm pretty psyched. :-) I was glad to find this group.

congrats Wendy. I'll be trying for my OS test in a few weeks. If I
pass then I'll have my cert. Compared to the test at freecomptia, the
ones on Mike Meyers cd and other online test sites, how would you say
they compare in difficulty and depth? Do you think the actual OS test
are harder? Thanks for any inpu and again congrats to ya.

| Welcome along Wendy. I must say, it usually helps finding this place before
you sit you exams, but I guess you did good since you already have the cert
:-)

Jack,
Thanks for the congrats. :-) The only practice tests I've had
experience with are Transcenders. I know it seems like a steep fee to
buy, but for me at least, it was an incredibly worthy investment. I
just kept practicing the Transcender tests over and over, and once I
got to the point where I was consistently scoring well on the
Transcender, I was ready to cough up the $ for the real thing. And I
know there was at least one question on the OS exam that I knew the
answer to solely based on the Transcender, I didn't encounter it in
class or in any of the 3 books I used to study. This was just my
experience, though, coming from a completely non-technical background
and having not had any "hands-on" experience except for some exercises
we did in my class.
The OS test wasn't harder than the Transcender exams I don't think, I
just found the wording and content of the questions to be a bit
different. My instructor told me that it's a good idea to know the
Transcender exams well, and also to be ready to answer the same types
of questions even if they're presented slightly differently on the
exam.
I hope that's helpful info. Best of luck to you on your exam! Keep us
posted.
