| My motherboard is an MSI-MS6191, which - on Comet's pre-installed
Fujitsu-Siemens PC - registered 256MB RAM, comprised 2x128MB Infineon
modules.
Anxious to upgrade, I have now replaced the Infineon modules with 2xKingston
256MB modules, but my System Information feedback insists that I still have
only 256MB RAM.
Thinking that there was a chance that one or other maybe was not seating
properly, I took both out, exchanged sockets, and re-booted again. Still,
however, I am reliably informed that I continue to enjoy just 256MB RAM.
Could anyone please suggest what I've done wrong - or any alternative ideas?
Thanks.

| perhaps the bios only allows 256 mb's? I know my computer will only
recognize 256.
There is also a problem with one sided ram.. it's only recognizing half of
the ram. I switched to double sided and had no problems.
Just a couple experiences/problems I have come across!

| Patricia,
Thanks for listing your motherboard model number. Your motherboard can accept 256MB modules, but not everyone's will work. The link below is what MSI used and successfully tested in your board. Never heard of Mosel (other than as a river in Germany), while SEC is Samsung.

| What's the processor and chipset, and what type of memory is this (SDRAM
PCxxx, DDR xxxx or RDRAM PCxxxx)?

| It's an AMD Athlon, with an AMD-751 chipset. The memory is Kingston 256MB
133MHz PCC133 SDRAM DIMM [low profile]
