I tried to install win2k, then halted, and now i get a
screen during boot-up that gives me 5 secs to click win2k or win OS.
how do i get rid of that darn screen?
this is contents of boot.ini:
[Boot Loader]
Timeout=5
Default=C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT
[Operating Systems]
C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
Setup"
C:\="Microsoft Windows"

now I am stuck with these darn NTLDR, BOOT.ini, and
NTDETECT.com files.

I get the boot menu with Win2k being the default.
how do I remove Win2k boot files entirely and/or
how do I make my Win98 the default OS?

If I do proceed with win2k install, will I have 2 OS's?
Will I get an option of booting into either win2k or win98 at boot-up?
I always see that screen on other PC's that have NT or 2k and 98 or
95.

System Properties (Right-click My Computer & select Properties)
Advanced/Startup and Recovery Settings/
Select second reference to Windows
[uncheck] "Display list of operating systems for # seconds"

Easiest way is to boot with a win98 strtup disk, and then at the a prompt
type sys c:
This will put the 98 system back on as your default. Then you can delete
the ntldr, boot.ini and ntdetect, and the winnt directory. In the future
then, if you try to re-install windows 2000 it will see it as if it was
never installed.
