| A friend has a computer that locks up while booting into windows ME! Locks
at different times ussualy right away but sometimes will go about an hour
and it locks in safe mode as well. He wanted to know whether it was a
virus? Told him it could be that, PS, or a heat problem. He lives two
states away so I can't do much from here but does anyone have any other
ideas? Or know of a good website based virus scan? Panda??

Yeah, too many programs running in the background at the same time,
insufficient RAM.

| Hey SB,
It very well could be hardware but a virus scan can't hurt. I'll post the
free online scans that I have saved, hope they help.
http://antivirus.cai.com
http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_pcc.asp enter your "country"
and remember to check the drive you want to scan, click on "auto clean" and
then "scan now"
http://www.pandasoftware.com/ Also removes w32nimda.A@mm virus
Symantec's Online Virus Scan here @

| If the problem is intermittent, you could have a faulty power supply.
