Minor A+ Update Soon

1/22/2003 -- A spokesperson for the Computing Technology Industry
Association (CompTIA) told XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX this week that the organization
expects to post new objectives for at least one of its A+ exams in late
February/early March.

According to the spokesperson, it's too early in the process to say what
exactly will be changed, or whether the update will affect both A+ exams.
However, she did say that the organization is estimating that the revision
will affect only around five to 10 percent of the current objectives.

Because the revision will be "minor" CompTIA does not plan to offer separate
beta exam(s) to test the new material. Instead, it expects to integrate the
new questions as non-scored items on the current exams at some point this
summer. The organization will convert the new questions into scored items
and remove the outdated ones once testing is complete, "sometime in Q3 or Q4
[2003]," the spokesperson said.

CompTIA will release more details on the update as the information becomes
available.
