| Does anyone know how to get rid of unused (unchecked) check boxes in
msconfig that belonged to software no longer installed or duplicates. I
searched the Microsoft Knowledge Base, but found nothing.

I think ME has a check box for that, but otherwise, a dive into the
registry is one possibility.
Have you checked a/the Windows Anoyances site(s) for any reference to
this?

| Yah use regedit. I'm sure by removing the keys here ->
HKLM\software\microsoft\window
s\currentversion\run
As always back up the registry before tinkering with it. Here is how I used
to resolve these problems in techsupport without using msconfig.
Essentially this is where windows is told to run windows on boot. Hence the
RUN key.
Hope that helps.

| I believe System Mechanic has a tool that will let you get rid of these, but
all it does is edit the Registry for you. If you're comfortable doing it
manually, go ahead, but back up the Reg first of course.
