is it possible to dual boot.....

| Hi fellow techs,
I have tried without any success to dual boot win98
and winnt 4.0 from two fixed disks on one machine. First I made the HD with
win 98 the master and no luck, then I switched them around again, making
winnt 4.0 the master because I remembered that the oldest OS should come
first, still no luck. Please guys any ideas?
Also, what does it mean "fatal disk error"? This has nothing to do with
the first scenario, I have never come across this error, it is just a
question I saw and there is no answer provided for it.
Paul.

I started to write a long description to tell you how to do this. Then I
thought "Why recreate the wheel?" when I don't have to. Go to this page and
read the instructions here.

| NT4 has compatibility issues with FAT32.
NT4 uses FAT16 &/or NTFS
W98 uses FAT32 & FAT16
You should learn about NTFS -- using either NT4, Win2000, or XP
The link the other guy proposed has no NTFS
3 partitions should work -- a very small active partition of FAT16 =
(probably less than 10 MB will do), FAT32, & NTFS.
NT4 needs 3rd party software to read (& write to) FAT32
W98 cannot read NTFS
Win2000 & XP can read & write to all 3

| Fatal disk error usually is an indication of a fairly serious hardware
disk problem, e.g. the drive is failing and may need to be replaced
(reformatting may help, but usually only temporarily). As with almost
all error messages at some times, the error message that you get may be
unrelated to the REAL problem in some instances, but my answer takes the
error message at face value.
