Author What has happened to this newsgroup?
W.F. Peifer

This used to be one of the brightest spots on the web, where reasonably
intelligent IT professionals and those wishing to become IT professionals
could engage is thought provoking exchanges of information and debate. My
ISP's news server went down for a couple of weeks, and when I got back in,
the group was flooded with smut, profanity and lunacy.

I realize that this is an unmoderated group, but it's always been one of the
cleanest of the unmoderateds, and threads were normally pretty much
on-topic. Now we've got transvestites looking for a good time (Virgin in
the XXX?), flame wars (DiamondDan and those who detest him) galore and
weirdoes posting using the names of the regulars (will the REAL Tom
MacIntyre please stand up?).

Please, folks. I don't like filling my killfile with spammers and trolls,
but I work 60 to 80 hours a week, and don't have the time to wade through a
swamp of garbage to find the meaningful dialog. We don't need this crap in
here. I long for the days when a novice could ask for an explanation of,
for instance, the difference between FAT16 and FAT32, without getting
blasted with a mountain of profanity and smut.

SPAMMERS AND TROLLS GO HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the rest of you, please join me in kill-filing these losers. What they
want is attention. If they're killed, they won't get what they're looking
for in here, and will eventually leave.

And what is MOST unfortunate of all....you will get flamed for posting
that...and I'm sure I will get flamed for telling you that you'll get
flamed. Unfortunately, this is what this NG has become. I've been hanging
around here for 3 months or so, and when I first came here, it was a good
resource, but now, as you said, it takes a lot to wade through the
filth...what a shame...

I haven't been coming here for long (maybe a month) but I can see what your complaining about
either the trolls will go home and you can live in (virtual peace) or you could sign up to an excellent moderated forum that links to this and other public newsgroups
I'm not sure if your interested or not but you might want to at least check it out at http://examnotes.net/forums

Did you just call this a WEBSITE???? Oooh! How you will be trashed for *that*
little faux paus!!!

> where reasonably
>intelligent IT professionals

Read: "Reasonably" intelligent...right? As in...relevant to that which would
be considered "intelligence"...eh? They "seem" intelligent...but have you
asked yourself if they actually *are*? I'm here because I happen to believe
they are not. If you disagree with me, feel free to show me why this is so...

>and those wishing to become IT professionals

And looking for ways to get around actually knowing the material they wish to
express themselves as knowledgeable about, don't forget!

>could engage is thought provoking exchanges of information and debate.

Do you and I read the same newsgroup? The only "debate" I ever see here is the
debate as to whether it is proper "netiquette" to respond to a troll and
debating what the definition of a troll actually *is*. You see...some
people...such as myself...come in here and post a fair stitch and are
considered "trolls" by some...but others see past the curtain and recognize the
genius of my words and realize that those who say "dance, monkey" and "go suck
your mama's cunt" are not, in reality, the same species as myself. So I
*might* be a troll...but if I am, I'm of an age you've not been around long
enough to recognize.

> My
>ISP's news server went down for a couple of weeks, and when I got back in,

It went down for a COUPLE OF WEEKS??? WTF kind of ISP do you subscribe to that
a server could go down for half a month? Do you expect anyone to believe this
obvious bullshit?

You didn't even *mention* me!!! I guess I must be better than the rest then,
eh, since I'm obviously a cornerstone of this group in its recent history but
nobody *quite* realizes it? Spammer? Can you take a hint? Lame isn't always
the game...trolls of today don't even *begin* to compare...genius used to be
loved, now it's not even recognized even if it's right in front of the
recipiants face.

Why did you even respond to this group, then? Isn't that all it's ever been?

I beg to differ. A dose of reality is EXACTLY what this place needs.

Was there a day when somebody who didn't know the difference between those two
forms of encryption even had the smarts to *find* this group? I didn't think
so. You're lying again, and I've caught you red-breasted!

No it hasn't. It's finally found the branch on the nut tree where sanity
prevails. You've been exposed to idiocy for too long, Ghost...and it's numbed
your senses. You see...some of us (I'm not talking about that "Aaron"
character who thinks saying things like "go suck your mama's hole" are amusing
or have any effect whatsoever) are dedicated to exposing the frauds and morons
in this group that think they can get away with pretending to be knowledgeable
about anything more than where the home keys are located on their ever present
keyboards. It's not nuts, Ghost, it's the natural order of things. You have
to weed out the shit weasels sometimes, or they have a tendency to climb so far
up your XXXXXXX that you think they are natural parts of your colon. Join with
me, my fine spirit, and oust those that would claim supremecy on we the people
of the true computer community. We'll not be oppressed by the fraudulant
dictators whom never even *tried* to read past the nouns and verbs in the
sentences that attempted to teach them more than the basics of computer
technology. We'll show them that we...those who can't necessarily spell nor
use proper grammar, have more knowledge in our right typing hand than they have
in their entire bloated brain! Join me, Ghost, join me! Rebel and excel!

I was going to blast you for the FAT32 being a type of encryption thing, but
luckily I read your whole post. You do know the difference don't you???

So, apparently, you...also...even though you've shown a mediocre amount of

No. I did NOT call it a "website". Learn to read. I called it "one of
the brightest spots on the web". It's not a site, per se, but it is
accessed through the web and thus qualifies as a spot, albeit not a "site"
one the web.

No you can't. You don't have the slightest IDEA what they're complaining about
if you've only been here a month. Their primary concern is that they are being

First of all...top posting is a sure way to get me fired up and on your bad
side, Albert...which at this point you're safe, because I like you. But please
try to adhere to the policies I've clearly set for this group. Don't try to
just "munge" your way through things, it will be bad for you.

As for the humor that is marriage...well...I've been there Al, and I
agree...wives tend to be rather amusing until you find the right one. I highly
recommend dumping the current abuser and finding yourself a nice lady who will
appreciate you for who you are, rather than who she wants you to be.

As for what you gain from this group? Well...that's really up to you, isn't
it? If you wish to read my comments, somewhat inflammatory, I'll admit, as
"abuse"...feel free to do so. If you'd like to look past the inflammatory
basics and see the actual meaning behind my (admittedly advanced) comments, you
may find yourself with a better understanding of not only this froup, but the
world in general.

The ball's in your court (heh...ball...I didn't even use quotes!)...do with it
as you will...but at least dribble it in the right direction, okay?

This moderation lark is a complete waste of time I went to the examnotes.net
and it was a load of old tosh. It promises that it is moderated no sex no
abuse no spam no insults I typed in the spammers favourite words in the
search field ie 'Diamond dan is a XXXXo' 'sex' and 'wanker' and lo and
behold all these words are in postings on their site Moderators ???? How so
????I think not

PissingJoker, do you do *anything* other than post to newsgroups? While I
haven't checked the timestamps on all these posts, I can't help but imagine
that you've spent the last couple hours waiting for people like me to post
something along the lines of a message like this. I do not want to get the
wrong impression of you, so clear that up for me, will ya? I'll reserve
judgement until I know exactly what kind of los...person...you are.

Tinkler I back yolu to the hilt when you say that certain people are getting
Xposed as the spammer would say and because they are regulars they close
ranks and defend the person. an example of this is the way they flame
newbies who come here looking for good braindumps/ S.O'brien is one such
person who flames people however after much research I have found an old
posting of hers where she admits using them herself?????

oh... forgot to mention... when I use the dumps I white-out the answers,
create an answer key, do the questions on my own, then check my answers
against the key. Doesnt make much of a difference I suppose but when I am
doing the questions, I am on my own. I have to use my own knowledge to get
thru the set of questions I have randomly picked to answer in one sitting.

lol rambling on

Go back and look at the Aaron posts, and the earlier ones, before the
real Aaron was hijacked, like so many others.

Who are you trying to fool?

TJ is so far beneath you that he's not worth your time to reply?

Yet you'll find the time to reply... interesting.

And announcing that you've put someone in a KF is the Usenet
equivalent of a five year-old sticking his fingers in his ears and
shutting his eyes and shouting over and over "I CAN'T HEAR
YOU, I CAN'T HEAR YOU, NA-NA-NA-BOO-BOO ! ! !"

How impressive.

Not.

Actually Skullcracker I found the last news group that TJ was kicked out of.
It's true.....alt.XXXXXXX-factory

This NG is for real. Check it out for yourself! "2,420 Threads in
alt.XXXXXXX-factory"

Maybe if we all beg them, they'll let him come back!
