Author pagefile error

I am running windows 2000 server with 256MB DDR RAM and 1900xp
processor.

every time i boot up I get a virtual memory error saying the pagefile
is missing or to small.

I increased it in increments up to 2000 MB and i still get the error.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be?

Frank,

I'm not sure if a problem I've seen occur in NT4 is still a known issue with
Win2K. I've poked around TechNet but came up empty handed. Any way here's
a link to the TechNet article that might explain the issue: KB Q130016

Run sfc from the command line, checks the system files and corrects them.
