Heading to Staples for more white-out:

I'm still going through the A+ book (3rd edition) and have found a few errors.
Currently in chapter 14, the questions and answers.

Question #1 says "Jane has a 4x CD-ROM drive. At what rate does it process
data?"

I chose B which is 600KBps. The answer sheet says "A. Because 4 X 150kBps
= 600KBps." um.....ooookay.

Question #7 asks "Which of the following is a common CD-RW speed setting?"

A. 32X
B. 4 X 12
C. 8 X 4 X 32
D. 4 X 8 X 8 X 32

I chose C. The answer states "D. CD-RW drives are defined by three
multipliers".
um......sure.

Finally Question #10 ask "For a CD-ROM to AutoRun/AutoPlay, it must have a file
called ____________in it's root directoy?"

Now I thought it was C. AUTORUN.INF, but the answer sheet said D, which was
AUTORUN.BAT, however the rest of the answer says "The correct name of the
file is AUTORUN.INF"

I think I might need alot more study time.

If you wish to disagree I won't ask you to the prom.

me.

Which A+ study guide are you using?

Yes, that is Mike's book. It does have some typos, so you need to check out
the following link:
http://www.totalsem.com/errata_aplus_3rd.html

What you are talking about is covered there by the following:

Chapter 14

p. 936, Answers have a couple of typos. The text is fine, but correct these
letters:

1. B. is the correct answer.
7. C. is the correct answer.
10. C. is the correct answer.

I found a couple of small typos not covered by their list that I have to
send.

Pete

Gerard,

I too found errors in one of Mike's books. The fact that you are able
to spot the errors indicates to me that you understand the material.

Funny that I just discovered this group last night and passed the OS
portion and completed the certification this morning. Go figure.

Good luck,
Doughboy

the website: www.totalsem.com has a book errata. Even the best editors
miss a few from time to time. It's a very good, solid book - good luck in
your studying.

Sorry to be so slow to respond, Gerard -- wrapped up in another book and
didn't get to the newsgroups this week until today. Others have posted links
to our errata pages; if you run into something not covered in the errata,
please feel free to e-mail me.
