I am running Windows XP, and want to create some extra partitions. I go into
Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk
Management. I have 1 C:\ 37.27 GB NTFS. Status: Healthy (System). Problem is
I have no alternate click to create any partitions. Am I missing something ?
(The options I have are : Open,Explore,Change Drive Letter and
paths..,properties,help.

Thanks

alan.

You need to start by clicking on an unused area of the disk, but if the
entire disk is already used by 1 or more partitions, you cannot create
additional partitions without repartitioning and reformatting the disk from
scratch or a third-party utility such as Partition Magic. If the entire disk
has not been used, and you still cannot create additional partitions, try
first converting the disk to dynamic.

Alan, you should partition first, then format, then install OS. Not have OS
installed, then expect to partition. JB.

If you don't have the $70 to buy PM 7.0 for a one time use, you can do a
full back-up, collect all your program CDs, run FDISK and create your new
partitions and reload all your programs and software/data.

I'm assuming that XP is like Win2k, as I just started using XP today.

Is this disk Dynamic? You can't do this with Basic disks. Also, there
must be unused space on the disk in order to create volumes
(partitions).

Too difficult? Grab a copy of Partition Magic. No tech should be
without it.
