I'm trying to compile the best resources for LOW COST training
solutions. I like very much the security+ guide from
certificationpass.com, but have yet to find something as cheap and
accurate for the A+ exam. Any ideas? Basically don't want a bootcamp
(too expensive); dont want a book (too long), just the quick and dirty
-- I mean these tests arent that hard. Thanks!

The book is too long for the tests that aren't that hard? :-)

You must've heard this old story...the more you study, the more you
know...the more you know the more you forget...the more you forget,
the less you know...so why bother to study?

"More" subjective words, of course, as each "more" is not necessarily
equal...

Why not use a book to study? Most of the better books don't just give you
information to pass an exam but also help you to learn the
technology/platform/product beyond what is tested in the exam.

If I were recruiting I would want someone who is prepared to put in the hard
work to not only pass the exam but also understands what they are doing. I could
have had a lot more certifications to my name if my goal was to learn just
enough to pass the tests but I feel it is important to understand more than just
enough. I've worked with techs who just wanted the answer on how to fix a
problem and were not interested in learning for themselves or to put extra
effort into learning more - they didn't last long when it really counted.

I read through the material, comparing it with the exam objectives and note down
the important bits, tables etc to produce my own brief notes but I make sure
I've read through the material several times so that I am familiar with it so
that the notes are there to help memorise command line switches, to prod my
memory when I am testing myself and if I'm somewhere where it's more convenient
to read brief notes than a book. Never underestimate the value of practicing
what you have learnt.
