I accept that this is the way some people do it on individual chat
sessions and in chat rooms, and possibly in some, maybe many Usenet
groups. I accept that it is quicker. I also do not like it very much.
I don't mind natural evolution of the language, and shorthand has been
around for years, but I think this can lead to a devolution of the
language.
The point is communication, and if it isn't working...it isn't
working. It's your right to post in any way you like, but it's the
right of others to not bother with trying to read it if it is in a
form they are not familiar with, or don't care for. Think of it as
being lost packets on a data transmission that are not resent...
Two expressions come to mind..."When in Rome, do as the Romans do",
and "Don't dress (substitute "write") for the job you have now, dress
for the job you want to have".
You can do whatever you like, of course, but please accept this as
food for thought.
