Hey guys...

Has any one here noticed a very sharp increase in virus activity out there???

Specifically, besides the typical Klez and BugBear viruses, I am now
seeing an incredibly unbelievable rise in historical viruses hitting the
scene- all at once!

In the last week I have had resurgences of Snow White, Nimda,
Backdoor.trojan, Hybris, BanTrans, Magistr, Sircam, VBS, Kak, and even
Chernobyl! Yes, I had one with Chernobyl the other day!

I have seen all of these in the last week, along with many of the
variations of the same ones (Nimda A, Nimda B, Nimda c, etc).

I had one PC yesterday that had 8 different viruses on it at the same time!

This is in addition to the normal viruses of today (Klez, ElKern, BugBear, etc)

Anyone else seeing this???

I don't see any systems other than those of our household and family
and friends. We have seen Klez and BugBear recently, but a lot of
Magistr here at home.

I just find it so odd because all of these viruses are old!!! Most of
them I havent even seen for like a year or better! Chernobyl was thought
by SARC to be nearly extinct!

Yes I have seen quite a bit of old stuff. It seems to me that when Klez or
Bugbear disable the non updated antivirus on some of the computers that I
work on it leaves the door open for many of the older things to come in.
I had a computer a couple of months ago that had 7 different viruses and 3
back doors on it. Needless to say, the computer didn't work very well.
There was a time that an old antivirus would work OK since the virus world
was pointed at floppy disks. With the recent wave of self executing email
viruses I constantly harp to all my customers about using updated antivirus
and regularly checking for MS updates.
