Usually this type of error indicates dll corruption.Did you install any
third party software in the recent past on the machine?if so, chances are
there that some sql server related dlls are overwritten/corrupted.
If its possible try replacing the dll from a valid source and if it doesnt
help, try reinstalling MDAC (www.microsoft.com/data) or enterprise manager.
