Author SQL2000 continuesly increases Memory usage

Hi,

We've got an application using a Sql2000 DB. This runs fine on Windows
2000. But at some clients, we have an old NT4 server with SQL2000 on top of
that. What happens here is that as soon as we start SQL, it starts
increasing it's momory a bit at a time and after a week or two, the machine
craches due to too much memory.

Restarting the SQL service is sufficient to continue normally, but isn't teh
general idea.

Can anybody help me on this issue. How do I troubleshoot, or wat is the
solution?

thanks,

Lothar

You can manage the memory that the server uses. In the Enterprise manager,
go to the properties for the server and find the memory tab. You can set an
upper limit from there.

SQL 2000 is not known to have memory leaks but some older versions have some
on very specific actions. Did you apply all service packs?

Andrews hint is important too.

In addition to the others this may help explain some:

Egbert,

Yes, I applied all SP's for both NT4 as SQL2000

I know I can set an upper limit for memory usage, but then the SQl server
only crashes earlier. It's either when system memory is full ,of limit is
reached
