Most Economical Way to Backup SQL DB
|
|
|
| Hi,
Can someone pls help me ??
Pls advise me the most economical way to do a backup for
data of 12 GB in SQL DB. Is magnetic tape the option
otherwise ??
Also, could advise the size (space) of per magnetic tape.
Are magnetic tapes readily available to purchase in most
countries.
Look forward to your response.
Thanks regards
Marie

| Yes tape will work fine for you. These are the formats I am familiar with.
TAPE CAPACITY
DDS 2 gigs
DDS2 4 gigs
DDS3 12 gigs
DDS4 20 gigs
DLT 35 gigs
These are native or uncompressed. Usually drives have hardware compression
that will basically double the native size. There are also a couple
variations on the DLT with a 40 gig variant as well. If you are using
specialized backup software ie, Veritas and others, many times they offer
software compression also.
