Better method of Upgrade ?
|

| I want to upgrade from 7 to 2000. Rather than going
through SQL 2000 setup and upgrade SQl Server. I like to
uninstall SQL 7 then install SQL 2000. Now I can restore
SQL 7 databases from backup. This way can I avoid any
unnecessary SQL 7 files, DLL etc.?
I have examined system tables from both fresh 2000 install
and SQL 2000 install from SQL 7 upgrade. They don't
exactly match. Why is that?
Thank you for your reply.

| Yes that will work, but it's pretty pointless. The SQL 2000 upgrade from
7.0 is pretty darn clean, it will replace all the appropriate files.
