Cannot backup SQL Server 2000 using Netbackup 3.4.1

| Hi,
I am new to managing SQL server. I am trying to backup my
system default databases (except tempdb, ofcourse) and
the ones that we created ourselves. The backup fails with
error 2, saying the requested files were not backed
up...on the SQL server side, i get "Error returned when
opening dbclient, pipe #0" Any ideas?
My question is, what is the best way to backup SQL server
databases?
-Configure the Maintanence tool to backup databases, and
then just backup those files on tape?
-Backup the databases to files using Enterprise Manager
and then backup those files to tape?
-
Thanks,
ACD

| I've always found that backing up to disk first then backup the file to tape
is the best method when you have disk space. I find that buying a NAS device
or extra diskspace is better than an expensive NetBackup or Veritas agent
for SQL Server. I would definately do this for transaction log backups.
