Connect SQL Servers in 2 different domains
|
|
|
| Hi
I am a novice in SQL field and would like your help. I have a NT 4.0 domain
and a Windows 2000 domain. I have installed SQL Server 2000 standard ed in
2000 domain. When i try to register the server from a workstation of NT 4.0
domain, it doesnt connect. Both the domains are in different subnet masks.
Tried creating another NT 4.0 domain in the same subnet mask, but i get the
same error while connecting to the SQL server residing in one domain to be
accessed from another domain.
Can anyone please help me.
Many thanks

| Looks like you are using NT authentication?
If you use NT authentication to connect to the SQL Server you must make sure
that there is a trust relationship between the 2000 domain and the NT 4
domain.
If you use SQL Server authentication it should all work fine.
Another cause might be that you try to connect using named pipes, try to
connect using TCP/IP instead.

Hi
I've tried using NT authentication and SQL as well. Nothing works. There
is a two way trust established between the two domains.
Please advise.
Many thanks
