Author Stop Sqlserver logging to application event viewer

I would like to know if I can get Sql Server 2000 to stop
logging successful completed transaction and complete
backups to the Event Viewer application log. These
informational messages are filling up the application log
as I do tranaction log backups every 15 minutes.

I only want the failed or problem backups to be logged.

Check the notifications tab on the jobs that you have defined.

Keith, these backups are scheduled via a maintenance plan, I don't see a
notification tab in the maintenance plan window. Could you please
elaborate, I am not much of a Sql Server guru.

Thanks

I don't use maintenance plans. I did set one up and I could not see where
to modify the logging to the application log.

Perhaps you could try creating your own scheduled job (under the SQL Server
Agent node -- Jobs). When you are certain that the job works as expected
you can delete the database maintenance plan.

Paul,

I haven't found a way (yet) to stop SQL Server writing to eventlog each time it does a backup. I
don't think you can do that...
