| Hello,
I'm using Win 2000 (with latest patches) and SQL Server 2000 SP2 (+security
patches). My box has 4 CPU's and 4GB of memory (boot.ini switches have been
added and AWE is enabled). The SQL Server memory is in self configuring
mode and (according to the GUI) it recognizes all 4 GB of memory. The
strange thing is that even under low workload the box pages constantly.
I've tried a page file the same size as the physical, I've tried physical +
12MB, and I've tried a page file of only 1GB (1/4 of the physical). Nothing
is working. It's still paging.
What is the appropriate size for a paging file on 2000 OS with SQL Server
2000? How does the SQL Server interact with paging? I've heard (only
rumor) that the SQL Server should never page. Is that true?
Any advice is appreciated,
G
