Hi,

Per your post, when you switched the security mode from standard to mixed,
you got the error 21002. If this is accurate, then the following steps
should clear up your situation.

1. Start->Run->regedt32

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Mi
crosoft\MSSQLServer

3. Grant FullControl on this key to either to an NT group the user is a
member of

or to the user's domain account.

- Check "Replace Permissions on Existing Subkeys"

- Click "OK"

- You will receive a dialog box stating:

"Do you want to replace the permission on all existing subkeys within
MSSQLServer?"

- Click "Yes"

4. Stop and restart the MSSQLServer service for the changes to take affect.

5. Retry the operation that failed with insufficient permissions again.

6. Stop and restart MSSQLServer service for the changes to take affect.

Sincerely,
