| Having problems trying to restore a database. Two things
1. Backup file name/location is oddly named:
DBASQL70TID1796VD0
Never seen this before.
2. When trying to restore from this location get the
following message: Cannot open backup
device 'e" MSSQL\Backup\DBASQL70TID1796VD
0'. Device error
or device off line.
Don't know what to make of this either. The device is
available. Log files seem to indicate that backups have
occurred without event or error.
Any help greatly appreciated.

| Where is the colon between the drive letter and the rest of the path? If you
made a typo, post the exact query used.

e:\MSSQL\Backup\DBASQL70TID179
6VD0
would be the exact path.

| Does the SQL Server service account have access to this file? Can you see
it listed using EM and it's the restore dialog?

| The error message results from the Restore Dialog. Can
see the path but not the file. Activity logs report that
a successful backup has taken place. See no file where it
believe that it should be.

| If EM cannot see the file, then there is a good chance that the service
account does not have access to it.
