Hi all!

I have the administrator rights of an SQL-server. I dont
have the administrating rigths on the Windows-Server where
the sql-server is installed. Is there a way to delete a
physical backup file for me, or do I have to ask the
administrator of the Windows-server to take care of it?

Hi!

If you don't use Kerberos and security delegation and impersonation, then
you can use xp_mdshell from Query Analyzer. Then SQL Server will use it's
own account for Windows authentication, which is usually in the local
Administrators group, for members of the sysadmin role.

Thanks for your answer.

I have to admit that it's a bit cryptic to me. The
xp_mdshell isn't recognised by the query analyser, and I
didn't find any information of the stored procedure in
help. I guess I have to registrer it but I don't know
where the Dll is located, is there a standard catalogue
for the dll?

In sum confused on a higher level...
