Author sp3 problem?

I have got 2 boxes networked together.
Box 1: win2k pro sp2 sql2k sp2
Box 2:win2k server sp3 sql2k sp2

They are in 2 different domains so of course winnt security wont cut it
here. From the pro machine, I can sucessfully register the server box in EM
using sql security. However, from the server box, I cant register the pro
box. "sql server doesnt exist or access is denied". It does exist. Im SA on
both boxes on have confirmed both passwords. Now it gets even funkier. If I
try it over and over again( 5 - 10 times) it will eventually work. Same
password. All will be good. But then if I reboot the server, I will be
locked out of the pro box. Same message as before. I have gone through this
whole cycle 3 times now. I have done this hundreds of times with sp2 with no
problem. That is the only configuration difference that Ive never
encountered. Is there a way to have the pro box share sp2 so I can have the
server connect to it and install it? Or, does anyone have a workaround?

Thanks in advance.
