sql2k sp2 win2k sp2

I have got a table that Im populating a one column full text index catalog
on.(char(5)) It has got 2.1 million records in it. 2 750 P3 processors.
512mb ram. Very lite load on the server except for what Im doing. The Item
count(which Im assuming is record count) in full text catalog props is only
@ 324822 after 30 minutes. Not even 1/6 of the way done. (again assuming
item count is row count) Is this normal sounding to people who have used
this?

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Chris,

Yes it sounds normal to me. One of the drawbacks I mentioned earlier are the
speed of population and that you can't backup the index.
