SQL SERVER 7.0

HI All,
We have a SQL job which scrolls through all our
servers/database and perform some operations.
Set up linked server and it works fine.

We have issues if any one of the server is down and the job hang with a
status 'Performing Completion Action', other day i did a stop/start SQLAgent
to clear this job.

Any thoughts / approach to handle this case.
